Young Actor Award 2023 for "The Assassin of Venice"

11,000 children and adolescents form the jury of the awards given each year by Ibbycat and the Catalan Children's and Youth Book Council

The Kites by Jacques Goldstyn (category 9 years), The Brooklyn Witches by Sophie Escabasse (category 10 years) and Amy and the Secret Library by Alan Gratz (category 11 years) are the winning works of the 18th Atrapallibres Prize.

The Murderer of Venice , by Pol Castellanos (category 12-14 years) and The Arsonists by David Cirici (category 14-16 years) are the winning works of the 27th Young Protagonist Award. (see the Press Kit for more information on the works).

This is the verdict of the 11,000 children and young people who participated this year in this unique competition in the Catalan Countries, which aims to promote reading in Catalan and foster the literary education of children and young people between 9 and 16 years old, inviting them to be the jury that evaluates the works that are eligible for the awards.

The participants had to choose between 3 literary proposals in their category (works published the previous year), previously chosen by a committee of specialists in LIJ (Children's and Young Adult Literature). At the Awards Gala held today, the participating children and young people were finally able to discover which were the winning works in each category, after a whole year working on the critical analysis of these and practicing literary conversation, within the framework of the reading promotion program promoted by the Awards.

The event was attended by representatives of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Ministries of Culture and Education, the National Book and Reading Plan and the main Catalan institutions, as well as authors, publishers, translators... and the main protagonists of the Awards: 700 children from all over the country.
