Pol Castellanos Mayós
Son of pharmaceutical parents with origins in Tagamanent, Vallès Oriental, and Baldellou, in the Ponent region, he grew up in the Sant Andreu del Palomar neighborhood. He attended primary school at CEIP Pegaso and secondary and high school at IES Príncep de Viana, both in the same neighborhood.
As a child he liked to read and write. He wrote his first (unofficial) novel at the age of six, it had ten stapled pages and a cover full of illustrations. Since then, he has always devoted himself to writing short stories and novels.
In 2013 he graduated from Literary Studies at the University of Barcelona. He also took courses at the Barcelona University Writing School, where he studied narrative techniques and the architecture of stories. Stories came out of those courses Ninety-six candles, which received the 2013 Pilar de Vuit award, andChopin in the winter wind, with Francesc Bru de Narrativa 2014.
In 2014 he studied the master's degree in Literary Creation at Pompeu Fabra University and in 2015 he began teaching Catalan language and literature at secondary and high school.
The first novel he wrote was published in 2019: The impostor of Vienna(Polar Star). In 2020 it received the Alba award for the Best fantasy book for young people in Catalan. The second novel was The murderess of Venice(Estrella Polar), which in 2021 received the Ramon Muntaner award for youth narrative.
