Set in Venice in 1914, right on the brink of the outbreak of World War I, the story follows Carla Herzog, a thirteen-year-old girl who discovers she has premonitory visions of murders and catastrophes. After being locked away in a reformatory by her own father under accusations of witchcraft, the protagonist embarks on a desperate flight and a race-against-time investigation to prove her innocence and uncover her family's darkest secrets. Since its original publication in Catalan (Estrella Polar), the book has achieved eight editions and critical acclaim, winning awards such as the 2021 Ramon Muntaner Prize and the 2023 Protagonista Jove Prize, alongside a Spanish edition by Algar. Now, with Amazon Crossing Kids, this historical mystery adventure is set to reach readers worldwide.
